KADI’S RESTAURANT JOURNEY: ALL ABOUT THE PEOPLE

We’ve been talking about the restaurant quite a bit over the past few weeks. Completely expected with such a labor of love going out into the world! We are so excited with how happy our Sango neighbors have been with the food experience at Kadi’s Tacos and More, and our primary focus now is to hire the right people to improve the overall customer experience and wait times.

We know that you’ve seen it in the news and in the adjusted hours of operations in restaurants across the country, but we are going to say it again: it is so very hard to find reliable team members. For us, for every one person who is hired and shows up for their first day of work, there are at least 5 who don’t. Staffing is a challenge, and that affects our customers AND our team.

With this challenge in mind, we wanted to take a moment to publicly shout out our food truck team members: Hannah, Ava, Bridget, Myca, and Felipe. If you’ve followed our page over the summer, you are aware of the saga of the food truck mechanical issues. Long story short, we were out of commission for 3 months, the three busiest months of the year. Besides the hourly wage, our team members receive all their tips, so the amount of money that these team members missed out on, through no fault of their own, is significant. And as mentioned earlier, there is a staffing shortage for the entire restaurant industry. We would completely understand if any of these team members chose to look elsewhere for work.

We are so immensely grateful that NONE of our food truck team members went elsewhere. All 5 stuck with us and showed up for their first day back, giving the same 100% that they did before the truck went out. Hannah, our food truck manager, especially kicked in, completely taking over the truck operations while Mamadi was consumed by restaurant operations. All of our food truck team members took on shifts at the restaurant to help train our newest team members. We cannot overstate how incredible it is to know that you can focus on one part of the business and know that the other part is in good hands. Simply put–they’ve got our back. And we cannot say “thank you” enough.

We don’t want to completely leave the restaurant out of all this thankfulness! Although we still need a few more, our restaurant team is showing tons of potential. We’re only a week in, and because we have staffing challenges, it is demanding work. Thank you to our team for putting in the work! You are so appreciated.
